AI is changing the way we create content. From writing captions to generating images, AI is now handling a big part of the work. If you are a Bit Social user, this update makes content creation more exciting by helping you generate unique content and bring a fresh, creative touch to your social feeds.
Until now, you had to rely on predefined templates to auto-post or schedule content on social media. It worked, but it still required manual input and repeated effort. Now things are much simpler.
Bit Social now integrates with OpenAI through the API. Now, every time you publish or schedule a post, AI can write the caption or summarize the post for you or generate visuals automatically. No repetitive writing. No guessing what caption to write for the post.
This is one of the biggest updates for Bit Social users. It is designed to save you time and help you share more engaging content with less effort.
If Bit Social is already part of your workflow, this update changes how you create content. Let’s dive in and explore how AI Prompts can work for you.
In Bit Social, the AI Prompt is essentially a useful AI-powered template you create for generating content. It’s a combination of text instructions and Smart Tags that tell an AI model what to produce.
For example, a text prompt might be “Write a catchy Instagram caption for this post: {post_title} – {excerpt}” or an image prompt might be “Create an illustration of: {post_title}”.
When used in a social post template, Bit Social replaces the Smart Tags with your actual post’s title/content and sends the prompt to the AI. The AI then generates the final caption or image, which Bit Social automatically uses in your social post.

In simple terms, AI Prompts let you automate content creation for social media, such as captions, post summarization, keynotes from posts, and more. You design a prompt once using human-friendly language and Smart Tags, and Bit Social will generate fresh text or images each time it posts. The prompts are dynamic: they add data from your WordPress post on the fly.
So you might create one prompt that always pulls in the current post’s title and excerpt. Smart Tags ensure the AI always has the right context (for example, {post_title} becomes “Top 10 Travel Destinations” when a specific post runs). This makes AI Prompts extremely flexible for captions, summaries, hashtags, image ideas, product descriptions, and more.
Under the hood, Bit Social connects to OpenAI’s (via the OpenAI API) to generate text, and to OpenAI’s DALL·E model to generate images. OpenAI provides powerful language models that can write, rewrite, summarize, and caption content in a human-like style.
DALL·E is a neural network trained to turn text descriptions into images. Because Bit Social handles the API calls for you, you don’t need any coding. Just write prompts in plain language and configure them in the plugin.
The new AI Prompts feature in Bit Social comes with a suite of capabilities that give you complete control over AI-driven content. Here are the main features:
In the Bit Social AI Prompts settings, you simply paste your OpenAI API key to connect your account. This secures the connection so Bit Social can send your prompts to the OpenAI servers.
💡You get your API key from platform.openai.com. Once connected, you’ll see a confirmation that OpenAI is connected.
AI Prompts use Smart Tags as placeholders that dynamically insert data from your WordPress posts. For example, tags like {post_title}, {post_content}, {post_excerpt}, and WooCommerce-specific tags (like {product_title}, {product_sku}, etc.) can be included in your prompt text.
When Bit Social runs the prompt, it replaces those tags with the actual post’s title, body, excerpt, price, SKU, etc. This ensures your prompts are always contextually relevant. For example, a prompt “Write a summary for {post_title}” could turn into “Write a summary for 10 Summer Travel Tips” when used with that post.
In an AI Prompt of type “Text”, Bit Social sends your written prompt to GPT-4 to generate textual content. You can use this to generate social post captions, paragraph summaries, advert copy, tagline rewrites, or virtually any text based on your post.

For example, you could have GPT-4 generate a creative LinkedIn summary of the post content, or an Instagram caption that matches the post’s topic. The Smart Tags inside the prompt ensure the AI knows exactly which post to describe.
If you choose type “Image” for a prompt, Bit Social will use OpenAI’s DALL·E model to create an image from your text instruction. For example, you could write “Generate an illustration of {post_title}” or something more imaginative like “Create a futuristic cityscape based on the theme of {post_title}”. DALL·E then produces an AI-generated image that Bit Social can post to your social account.
The plugin interface even lets you pick image size, quality, and style options before sending the prompt. This means you can automate unique visuals for each post. Such as sharing a custom illustration alongside a tweet or Facebook update. So you don’t need to design it yourself.
📝 DALL·E is a 12-billion-parameter neural network trained to draw images from text captions, so it’s well-suited for this task.
Once you create an AI Prompt, you can assign it to a social posting template in Bit Social. In the Templates tab of Bit Social, you pick which prompt to use for the post text or image. For example, in the template for Facebook or Twitter, you could select your “Generate Caption” prompt for the message content.
After creating prompts, you go to Templates and select your new prompt there. This ties the prompt to that social account template. Bit Social even shows you a preview of the prompt and allows you to edit it right in the template screen.
This setup is flexible: you can use the same prompt across multiple templates or create different prompts per platform. Once mapped, the prompts become an integral part of your publishing flow.
The best part is that AI Prompts run automatically when you post or schedule content. This means if you have a WP Auto Post set up (so new WordPress posts auto-publish to social media), Bit Social will automatically send the prompt to the AI at that time. It then uses the AI’s response as the post content or image, and posts it on your selected social accounts.
Likewise, if you use the WP Post Schedule feature (where you create schedules to recycle or delay posts), you can select prompts when creating the schedule. From WP Post Schedules > Accounts & Template, you pick the prompt for text and image fields. As soon as the schedule runs, the AI generates the output on the fly. The result is fully automated content: you never have to click a button or switch tools, Bit Social handles it end-to-end.
For each prompt, you can choose which AI model to use and set a temperature value. The “Model” dropdown lets you pick (for example) GPT-4, GPT-3.5, or any other supported model. You can experiment, maybe use GPT-4 for the best quality, or GPT-3.5 for lower-cost scenarios.
📝 The “Temperature” setting controls creativity: a higher temperature (e.g. 0.9) makes the AI more random and creative, while a lower temperature (e.g. 0.2) makes it more focused and deterministic.
This lets you tune how quirky or factual the generated text is. Bit Social surfaces these fields in the Create Prompt UI so you have full control.
Sometimes an AI call might fail (e.g. due to API limits or errors). Bit Social lets you configure a fallback behavior for that case. This could be a default static text (like a simple caption) or an empty skip, whichever makes sense for you.
That way, if AI isn’t available, your social post can still go out with a reasonable alternative. The fallback setting keeps your pipeline robust and ensures scheduling isn’t completely blocked by an occasional AI hiccup.
Together, these features turn Bit Social into an AI-powered content automation tool. Instead of manually writing every caption or design, you set up smart prompts once and let the AI do the heavy lifting, all within the WordPress dashboard.
Getting started with AI Prompts is straightforward. Here’s how you can set up and use them in your Bit Social workflow:
In your WordPress admin, go to Bit Social » AI Prompts. Here you’ll see the AI providers list.

Click the Connect button next to “OpenAI.”

A dialog will prompt you to paste your OpenAI API key.

You will get this key from your OpenAI account. Paste the key into Bit Social and click Connect. After a moment, the UI will confirm that OpenAI is connected.

Still in the AI Prompts tab, click the Create Prompt button.

A form will appear. Give your prompt a Title (for example, “Generate Caption for Facebook”).

Choose the Type: “Text” for generating written content, or “Image” for generating graphics. Select Platform: OpenAI.

In the Model dropdown, pick an AI model (e.g. gpt-4 for text prompts, or DALL·E-3 for image prompts). Set the Temperature value (start around 0.7 for balanced creativity, and adjust later if needed).

If the type is Text, enter your prompt text in the box. Use plain language and include Smart Tags where you want the post’s data inserted. For example: “Create a catchy Facebook caption for this post: {post_title}, {post_content_short_120}.”

Here {post_title} and {post_excerpt} will be replaced with the actual title and excerpt of each post at runtime. You can add as many tags as you like: title, content, excerpt, and even WooCommerce tags like product name, description, or SKU.
If the type is Image, Bit Social will use DALL·E. In the prompt field, describe the image you want, possibly referencing {post_title} or other tags. For example: “Generate an illustration of {post_title} with vibrant colors”.

Choose an image Size (e.g. 1024×1024) and Style/Quality as per your preferences. Then add your prompt. The interface will send this to DALL·E to create a visual.
When you’re done, click Ok to save the prompt. Your new AI prompt now appears in the AI Prompts list.

💡While writing your prompt text, use Smart Tags to pull in post details. Click on the Smart Tag buttons and select tags like Post Title, Content, Excerpt, Product Title, Product Price, etc. These tags are dynamically replaced when the prompt runs.
Now that you have one or more prompts, go to Bit Social » Templates. Here you edit your social media post templates. Each template has fields for the message text and (optionally) the image.
For a template that should use AI Prompts, click on the Prompt Tags button. You’ll see all of your created prompts list. Choose the text prompt you created. You will see your prompt text with tags listed there.

You can even edit it from here if needed. Editing the prompt here will not change your main prompt.

For images, change the posting type to “Image” if it’s not already, and then select an Image Prompt under the image settings.

The template will now use that AI prompt when it posts. You can also create a new prompt from this interface if you decide to add one on the fly.

With prompts assigned, you can use Bit Social’s other features as usual:
When you publish a WordPress post, Bit Social automatically shares it to your social accounts. Now, if the template includes an AI prompt, the plugin first sends that prompt to the AI and gets back generated text or an image. Then it posts the generated result.
If you have a schedule to automatically share old posts or periodic content, you can include AI prompts too. In the schedule setup (Accounts & Template step), you’ll see options to pick a text prompt and an image prompt for that schedule. Select your created prompts there. When the schedule runs, Bit Social will run the prompts and use the results just like with auto-post.

In both cases, the process is easy to set up. For each post being shared, Bit Social will automatically execute the prompts you set. Prompts execute during scheduling or publishing, and then generate content or an image automatically and post it. This means your captions, summaries, or images come from AI in real time, with no extra work from you.
After setting up, monitor the results. You might tweak prompt wording or temperature if you want a different style or length. If an AI response isn’t quite right, you can edit the prompt or adjust tags.
Bit Social also logs each post, so you can check what text/image was posted for each scheduled run. Over time, you’ll learn how to phrase prompts for the best output.
📝 Remember: AI Prompts depend on your OpenAI credits. The more you generate, the more usage you incur. But because it’s integrated, it feels like a natural extension of your social posting workflow.
This major update makes Bit Social truly next-level. Here’s why it’s so exciting for you:

AI Prompts let you generate social post content and images automatically. You create prompt templates using Smart Tags and human-friendly instructions. When you post or schedule, Bit Social sends those prompts to AI models and uses the AI’s output as your caption or image. This means you can auto-create captions, summaries, hashtags, or custom images without writing them yourself.
In WordPress, go to Bit Social » AI Prompts. Click Connect next to “OpenAI” and paste your OpenAI API key. Then click Connect. Once connected, Bit Social can securely call OpenAI to run your prompts.
Smart Tags are placeholders for your post data. In an AI Prompt, you include tags like {post_title}, {post_content}, {post_excerpt}, or WooCommerce tags like {product_title}. When Bit Social executes the prompt, it replaces each tag with the actual post’s information.
Yes! If you set a prompt’s type to Image, Bit Social uses OpenAI’s DALL·E model to create an image from your text description. Simply write a descriptive prompt with can include Smart Tags, and DALL·E will generate an image.
In Bit Social » Templates, edit the template for a social account. In the message or image field, you’ll see an option to Select Prompt. Choose the prompt you created (text or image). The template will display your prompt text or a reference to it. Now, when you post or schedule with that template, Bit Social will run the prompt and use the AI’s result in the post.
Yes. AI Prompts are integrated with Bit Social’s posting features. If you have WP Auto Post on, Bit Social will call the prompt and generate content whenever a new WordPress post is published. If you use WP Post Schedules, you select prompts when configuring the schedule, and the AI runs as each scheduled share goes out. You don’t have to trigger AI manually; it happens as part of the publish/schedule process.
Bit Social lets you set a fallback option for each prompt. If the AI call fails (due to an error or exhausted API credits), Bit Social can use fallback text instead of the AI response.
You have two main controls. First, the prompt wording itself guides the style. You can add instructions like “friendly tone” or “professional voice” in your prompt text.
Second, the temperature setting adjusts randomness: a higher value (~0.8) yields more creative, varied output, while a lower value (~0.2) makes the output more focused and predictable. Also, choosing different models (GPT-4, GPT-3.5, etc.) can affect tone and formality. You can experiment and preview results to fine-tune the style.
AI Prompts are available in Bit Social’s Pro version. You’ll need an active Pro license to access the AI Prompts tab and features. If you haven’t upgraded, you can try the demo site to test the new features.
